Bio-EM Imaging Translational Research Group

Bio-EM Imaging Translational Research Group

Analyzes 2D and 3D microstructures of cells and tissues, and studies protein and protein complex structures under cryogenic conditions.

  • Performs ultra-high-resolution, large-area analysis using electron tomography and large-area analytical techniques.
  • Conducts cryo-based immuno-electron microscopy analysis and EM-FLM integrated multimodal imaging.
  • Protein complex three-dimensional structural analysis.
  • Uses Micro-ED techniques for protein structure analysis and Cryo-ET for 3D structure analysis.

Research Infrastructure

Conducts joint research with outstanding domestic and international academia, industry, and medical partners by utilizing Bio-HVEM and Cryo-EM systems, applying techniques such as Electron Tomography, LLM, 3D protein structure analysis, Micro-ED, and Cryo-ET.

  • Analyzes and models 2D & 3D microstructures of organelles, cells, and tissues
  • Tracks and analyzes the distribution of specific proteins within cells and tissues through multimodal imaging based on Immuno-Electron Microscopy (Immuno-EM) and cross-instrument integration
  • Produces cryogenic samples using a Cryo-ultramicrotome (Cryo-UT) and High-Pressure Freezing (HPF) systems
  • Determines the 3D structures of drug target proteins, infectious pathogens (viruses), and functional organic compounds of tens to hundreds of nanometers using Cryo-EM and X-ray crystallography
