Research Content

  • Establishment of a platform for elucidating the physical mechanisms of action (MOA) of drugs : Analyzes the physical recognition mechanisms between lead or candidate drugs and target proteins at a world-class level to maximize the efficiency of drug development and address key technical challenges
  • Advanced structural biology research based on ultra-high-field NMR : Utilizes the 1.2 GHz NMR system, the tenth in the world and the first introduced in Asia outside Europe, to elucidate the high-resolution structures and dynamics of biomolecules
  • Research on disease-related protein interactions and mechanisms : Elucidates the aggregation and interaction mechanisms of pathogenic proteins (Tau, Aβ, TDP-43, etc.) associated with intractable diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), thereby providing a foundation for therapeutic development
  • Integrated analysis based on AI and simulation : Applies cutting-edge computational science—including AI technologies such as AlphaFold and alternative Fourier transformation methods—to predict functional protein structures and establish an ensemble structural analysis system

Integrated platform for advanced bioanalysis and drug discovery based on ultra-high-field NMR

A research framework of the NMR-Biophysics Unit that utilizes the world-leading 1.2 GHz NMR infrastructure to elucidate the physical mechanisms of drug action (MOA) of proteins associated with intractable diseases, while integrating AI technologies to enhance protein structure prediction and accelerate the discovery of drug candidates
