1988
Established as the ‘Basic Science Research Support Center,’ laying the foundation for Korea’s research infrastructure and providing analytical support services.
2001
Upgraded to the ‘Korea Basic Science Institute,’ strengthening analytical science capabilities in key fields such as bio and materials, and expanding domestic and international collaborative research.
2009
Established the National Facility & Equipment Center (NFEC), carrying out systematic management of national research facilities and equipment from initial establishment to utilization.
2021
Designated as the lead institution for the Multipurpose Synchrotron Radiation Accelerator construction project, building a world-class synchrotron accelerator and evolving into a specialized research institute in analytical science centered around it.
