전주센터에서는 나노화학의 전문가를 초청하여 나노분야 연구의 핵심장비인 Scanning Tunneling Microscopy(STM)를 이용한 연구분야에 관하여 세미나를 개최하오니 관심있는 분들의 많은 참여를 바랍니다. ■ 일 시 : 2005. 8. 23(화) 16 : 00 ■ 장 소 : 한국기초과학지원연구원 전주센터 세미나실              (전북대학교 농과대학 1호관) ■ 연사 및 세미나 주제 - 노재근 교수 (한양대학교 화학과)   ˝Self-Assembled Monolayers Studied by Scanning Tunneling Microscopy˝ ※ 문의 : 조선아 교육담당자 063) 270-4228, jsa@kbsi.re.kr ------------------------- 세미나 초록 ------------------------------------------ Self-Assembled Monolayers Studied by Scanning Tunneling Microscopy Jaegeun Noh Department of Chemistry, Hanyang University, Seoul 133-791, Korea E-mail: jgnoh@hanyang.ac.kr Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) is a very powerful tool for examining the atomic-resolution images, physical properties, and behaviors of the anchoring phases of organic molecules on a surface as well as for molecular manipulations on a surface. And self-assemblies prepared by sulfur-containing organic molecules on metal surfaces have drawn much attention for more than a decade because of the possibility of novel applications as biosensor, molecular recognition, nanolithography, nonlinear optics and corrosion inhibition. It is believed that self-assembly and STM in the material research field are core techniques for the realization of nanodevices as well as understanding atomic and molecular world in nanoscience and nanotechnology. In this seminar, we will discuss the self-assembly phenomena of organic molecules on a solid surface from a nanoscopic viewpoint.
